Creations, Fancy Flatware

Setting fun and unique tables, “tablescaping” is one of my very favorite pastimes.  I don’t have warehouses full of china, linens and glassware to draw from and I have limited flatware choices so I have to get creative to keep things interesting.  The idea of embellishing plain flatware has been rattling around in my head for a while

I have a bunch of these forks that I bought at Target several years ago when HH was complaining that we never had enough forks

I think they were $1 each, and had a nice plain, big, manly handle.  He hates them! I give up! So I knew he wouldn’t care when I borrowed a few…

a little wire to finish the look

This is 24 gauge white wire, very easy to work with, thin and light

After letting the glue dry for 24 hours I began to add wire starting by wrapping the space just above the shell 3 or 4 times, tightly, leaving a couple of inches free for finishing at the end

Then I laid the wire diagonally across the next stone and repeated the wrapping above it, wrapping the stem 3 times, and repeating this to the top

After wrapping the wire 3 times above the top stone, I worked my way back down to the bottom, crossing the stones in the opposite direction

Once back to the bottom I wrapped the wire above the shell 2 more times and twisted it with the starting end on the handle back and tucked the wire ends under the wrapping.  Secure with a dot of glue if you like but I was able to get it very secure without glue.  This wire is thin enough so you won’t have sharp edges.

HHjr said, you’re making that just for photos right? We’re not going to eat with it?
